A beloved snack across Russia and Eastern Europe, this Tetya Sonya dried roach (vobla) comes with caviar intact - a rare and prized combination that elevates this classic beer snack to something truly special. The fish is carefully dried and lightly salted, producing a firm, chewy texture with a rich, savory ocean flavor. Vobla with caviar is a staple at Eastern European gatherings, enjoyed alongside a cold beer or as a standalone snack.
Three whole air-dried roach in a vacuum pack, silver-scaled and stiff, with a visible orange slab of roe alongside them — the caviar the name refers to. Вобла (vobla) is the Caspian roach, and dried vobla is the classic accompaniment to beer across Russia, Ukraine and the Caspian region. You tear it apart by hand; the roe is the prized part.
Two ingredients: roach and salt. Nothing else, and the pack states GMO Free. 24 g of protein in a 2 oz serving — an exceptionally high protein density for a snack — with zero carbohydrate and only 130 calories.
This is a strongly cultural product. For Ukrainian, Russian and Caspian customers it needs no explanation; for everyone else it needs a good one, because whole dried fish with the head on is not a familiar format in the US.
